Heartbeat, Heartbreak and Happiness.

A beating heart coloured in by granddaughter Olivia when she was just three.
When I was about nine years of age there was a great American Pop Singer called Buddy Holly, to say my friend Beryl and I were crazy about him, was an understatement, we just adored him. Beryl was an only child and was rather spoiled by doting parents, she had a record player well before any one else did,  Each week her doting daddy would buy her a record from the Top 20, I was so lucky she chose me to be her best friend as I got to sit in her bedroom and play all the latest hits  with her, which of course, included every Buddy Holly hit.
Buddy Holly taken in the fifties.

He made several hits but one of my favourites was  called  Heartbeat.

John Lennon was a great fan of his and this is reflected in some of his writing, he recorded, with The Beatles, on one of their early albums, 'Words of Love' written and recorded originally by Buddy Holly, again in the fifties.

John Lennon often wore Buddy Holly style glasses but when it was suggested to him that he was copying his hero just a wee bit too much he stopped wearing them. This was rather unfortunate as John was short sighted so he was forever tripping over wires and speakers on stage. As John was such a clown people just thought it was all part of the act. Paul was a great fan too and this was reflected in their early works.

Sadly, in 1959, Buddy Holly was on Tour  in America when he was involved in a plane crash and  lost his life, along with two other pop stars, The Big Bopper and Ricky Valance.

A sad day for the Pop World.

Buddy Holly's adoring fans, worldwide were  Heartbroken. Paul McCartney was a great fan too an he and John featured 'Words of Love', (written and recorded by Buddy),  on one of their L.P's.

  HAPPINESS.

On the 19th of this month I celebrated my 70th birthday and it was such a Happy time for all the family. Our three lovely daughters arranged it at Ingrid's (second daughter's) home.
Ian holding the cake me next to him then  Brother in law Mal and his wife Jean,
then at the back son in law Dean with daughter Kirsten,
, then on the front left is Astrid  and on the front right is
Ingrid.   Standing just behind me is young Ian, Astrid's husband and
at the very front are Molly and Olivia, our granddaughters. Our two
grandsons Freddie and Christian scampered off just as the pictures
were being taken.

I have informed the family that now I have reached the grand old age of 70, I am going to behave outrageously, starting wit,h performing 'wheelies' in my motorised wheelchair down at the local shops !

WAY HEY...... look out here comes Grandma ....

F is for FAMILY

In the context of human society, a family is affiliated by blood, marriage, or cohabitation. Members of the immediate family include spouses, parents, brothers, sisters, sons and/or daughters. Members of the extended family include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and/or brothers or sisters-in-law.
Personally, I consider the people of ABC Wednesday to be members of my family!  I seem to "see" or "hear" from these people more regularly and more often than some of my immediate family.  And we usually have similar interests even if we live thousands of miles away from each other in different countries or even on different continents.  Sometimes I "click" with one or another contributor and really look forward to their contributions each week.  And there have been times when I've actually met someone I "met" here at ABCW.

For example, in 2012, I met Denise Nesbitt, the creator of ABCW when I was travelling in England.  As I was visiting her area, she invited my friend and me for tea and a visit.  We had a wonderful time as she showed us around her village in North Yorkshire.  And through Denise, I met a woman named Jill who has become a very dear friend.  I'll be visiting her again this summer when we take in Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough, and York along with the pub that was filmed in the TV series "Heartbeat" where her son now bartends.  I'll be sure to get my photo taken there!

I consider these friends whom I met through blogging to be family, also.  There's Jane in Newport, Wales and Liz in Swansea, Wales, both of whom have visited me here in my home.  There's Di in Liverpool, Anne in Oxford, Sally from Kings Lynn and Ellie in Cambridge - all in England. There are others who live not too far away, but too far for a quick visit.
There are also my long-time friends from years past that I consider family.  Cathy, Eileen, Irene, Sheila (who hails from Ireland) and Lynne, with whom I go out to dinner to celebrate each others' birthdays.  There's also Josie, who lives in Vancouver, so I only get to see her occasionally.  But, because my own immediate family is small, these are the people I choose to consider my extended family.  I thank God that He has personally chosen these good friends to share my life with and to whom I can turn in times of joy or crisis.
So always remember this:

18-E

abc18melody ABC-Wednesday by Mrs. Nesbitt Round 18 E
Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photomeme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!
The challenging letter of this week is the E and I've chosen the word: Emerge
Every week many people participate in this, and others I expect, meme with totally different topics. Whatever emerges to ones mind comes across for all of us to see, to like or dislike...all is possible. That is one of the things wich makes participating in a meme so much fun, isn't it?
I do have a mind which can think and act very quickly, i very rarely have to sit and think long and hard about what i will enter for participation but visiting every participant i also see people struggle sometimes with what to use for an entry.
 emerge
I love the fact that so many people participate every week and going back in the ABC history one can see many, many, many entries, week after week after week. I think is extraordinary for a meme to be so succesfull and have so many loyal participants who will return (almost) every week.

So... from a fairly new member of this meme... in my heart emerges a feeling of gratitude and respect to all of you and of course the wish that for long time to come, i will be able to may greet you every week again!
Lets keep 'emerging' things out of our imagination to keep the weekly fun in 'our' meme alive and kicking!

Have a nice abc-day/ - week

Introduction of Dd

If you join us, please show us a photo, poem or article beginning with D, and mention this meme in your post or in the sidebar. We like to welcome you in our bloggingcompany.

After C comes D, which is an old letter to be found in ancient Egypt, Greece, Hebrew and in all European languages, although not all written the same way. The alphabet in Asia and Africa is quite different from ours.

The Semitic letter Dāleth may have developed from the logogram for a fish or a door. There are various Egyptian hieroglyphs that might have inspired this. In Semitic, Ancient Greek and Latin, the letter represented /d/; in the Etruscan alphabet the letter was superfluous but still retained (see letter B). The equivalent Greek letter is Delta, Δ.
