GOOGLE + what for ?

I take the opportunity to ask you what are the advantages of Google+ other then a loss of time for Bloggers ? For chatting there is Facebook.

More and more Bloggers fall in the trap and subscribe to Google+ otherwise they are not allowed to comment on a Blog !

How often it happens to me that I get a comment with a link to the Blog. When I click on the link a Google+ page appears. Now I have to do FBI investigations to find the blog link on the Google+ page and most of the time there is none ! No way to comment on the Blog without becoming member of the "Circle" I don't want to be member of a circle, I just want to comment.

I try to find an email address, just to inform the person that I am unable to comment, but to 90 % there is no email address either. I hate to be forced into something I don't like and my opinion is that Google behaves more and more like a Dictator ! Where is the freedom of choice ? So what do I do after having tried for a while to find the corresponding link to the Blog ? I give up and don't comment !

Where are the good old times when you got a comment, and you could reply so easily ? It gets more and more complicated but I am proud to say, so far I could avoid to fall into the Google+ trap.

  1. I am on with you there!
I have the same frustrations sometimes and the same end result. No comment left.
I'm glad I have company on the non-google+ side. :)

  3. Apart from that it is difficult to manage all social networking sites.

  4. Yes, I think you're quite right, I have not fallen into the trap of Google +, but visits to my blog through searches on google have almost disappeared, I think it is like punishment!

  10. I can relate to this. I haven't gone with google plus and am not able to comment on some google plus blogs but other google plus have their comments set up so I can comment so it's a mix. Great idea for a G introduction.

  11. I resisted joining Google+ for a while and at first you just made circles with people you were familiar with but as you say I tend to visit folk through their blogs when they comment on mine - FB is fine because you don't need to react with total strangers - I'm constantly being put into the circles of folk I haven't the faintest idea who they are and the names of many suggest they are sites I really do not want to have contact with - I don't have to add them but I can't stop them adding me - on FB I can refuse friend requests and on twitter I can block any followers I don't want. I don't plan to cut my nose to spoil my face but I'm exercising caution.

  13. yes I feel the same way!! I can't stand google+. I find it so difficult to respond to a commenter on my blog. Sometimes I am able to find their blog but other times I just can't seem to do it and so am not able to return the visit.

  14. I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!! Follow this link to blend blogger with a google+ account. That way you can still comment without being committed to google+. I will also put it in the meme.

  16. I don't have Google+ either, and if I can't leave a comment I don't usually go back to that blog. I left Blogger awhile ago because of all the changes.

  17. I have the same issues with Google+. I have no way to contact the person about the obstacle Google+ creates to commenting. so they likely think I'm ignoring them, which is not the case. There must be a filter that allows non-Goggle+ users to make comments as I know several people who have a Google+ account yet you can comment on their blogs Goggle+ seems to be a solution without a problem.

  26. I hear you! It happened to me a bunch of times here at ABC. I wanted to comment on a nice post, but ended up giving it up because I wolud have to join Google+. I don't don't want to do it yet. I'm still resisting being part of the Circle...

  30. So true Gattina. Its a pain. Someone asked me a question on my blog but I couldn't reply to them because the link led to their Google+ page and wouldn't let me access without registering. Evil Google. so much for the connectivity, apparently open access only on Google's terms.
