S stands for SILLY.

I feel like being silly so here's some silly prose

and I hope it makes you smile.

Limerick by Edward Lear.

There was an old lady of France

who taught little ducklings to dance

When she said, "Tick a Tack"!

They only said  "Quack"!

which grieved that old lady of France

Silly Poem by Spike Milligan.

Said Hamlet to Ophelia

I'll draw a sketch of thee

What kind of pencil shall  I use

 2B or not 2B?

SKATEBOARD..... (anon).

I tried to ride a Skateboard,

I fell and scraped my knee,

I tried to ride a bicycle

 I crashed into a tree.

I tried to ride a scooter

 I landed on my chin,

 I tried to ride a unicycle;

 lost a bit of skin.

 I even tried a tricycle

 but ran into a wall,

I'm happy in this wheelchair now

 I never fall at all.

My thanks to the sensational Denise for devising ABCW and also to the sagely Roger our admin man! Not forgetting the team of saintly admin helpers too!

  4. Hello Melody,
My pleasure to make you smile, particularly in the light of the dreadful events that have taken place in France,
My heart goes out to all the victims, their families, their friends, neighbours and work colleagues.
May God bless them and watch over them and the French Nation as a whole.

We need some lighter moment at present.
I always have a book of nonsense prose nearby,
should I need a little cheer or there is a grandchild
around who may need a little entertainment!

  10. I'm not sure that "silly" is an emotion many of us can feel at the moment? I'm sad, stunned, shocked, scared...

    1. Chrissy,
I'm sorry if this offends you but I wrote it and posted before the dreadful events in Paris occurred.
I too am absolutely shattered , and frightened of what may happen any time now.
I love Paris and was blessed to have a Parisian tutor when I studied the language and political-eco
      situation in the city,

    2. I think the world is always a bit scary - bombing in Beirut, war in parts of the world that don't even get reported. SILLY, I contend, is a way to SURVIVE the madness.

    3. Thank you Roger, We had to live through all the bomb scares and IRA activities whilst our darling three
daughters were down in London at University.. then the terrorists in London not to long ago when our
eldest girl was working in the city.. However we are still standing..... four lovely grandchildren later..

If you can smile when all around the world fanatic terrorists are
murdering innocent people in the name of a religion that many of
them don't practice, then I say keep on smiling!

    1. Hi Tulika,
Glad you liked my silly prose,
The Hamlet one is definitely my favourite too. Spike Milligan was a very
clever man, he wrote lots of silly limerick and book, he was also part of a
comedy group called The Goons and they were incredibly silly.
Spike had engraved on his grave stone. 'I told you I was ill'.
