http://ann-mythoughtsandphotos.blogspot.co.nz/2012/11/abc-letter-r-relatives-rooster-roast.html has a bit of fun reminiscing.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely I voted. I think we are living in troubled times and need every available avenue to make our voices heard. We need shorter campaigns with less money thrown around!
ReplyDeleteVery well said Kate!
DeleteI agree, Kate. We also need many more debates. Also, I didn't even KNOW there was a Green Party candidate, Jill Stein, on the presidential line until I saw the ballot.
DeleteAll parties deserve the same exposure. We need campaign finance reform for REAL! Amy
I wasn't aware of the Green Party as well.
DeleteI always exercise my right to vote in my country. I am very glad Obama won. We love the guy here in the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteRose - I'm surprised that you're surprised about WV, which has not voted for a Democrat in a Presidential election in any year starting with the number 2.
ReplyDeleteHi Roger, based from what my other half told me (I am not into politics), WV has always been a blue state but then again, he was away for twenty years of serving in the Navy so you are probably right.
DeleteMust point out, pundits say Wisconsin was "red" last time and is now "blue," but no state is either one or the other. Every state is and must be considered its own hue of purple. In fact, on election night, hangin' with the lefties downtown, I wore a purple shirt to symbolize that.
DeleteI think it is good that we are all able to exercise the right to vote. I was thrilled with the outcome of the presidential election, although I was disappointed that NC went red this time. I was so happy in Pres. Obama's first race when my state of NC went blue. I think being able to disagree respectfully is important so I'm happy you were happy about WV and how they voted even though I'm very relived and very, very happy that Pres. Obama won and Romney lost. Cheers, Carver
ReplyDeleteI respect your preference, I am glad that you are happy with the result.
DeleteYes, I did indeed exercise my right to vote! However, many here in Rio Rancho were not able to-the county totally blew it on not having enough polling places and enough voting booths-lines were miles long and the wait for many was over 4 hours. Many gave up and did not vote as a result. Our local results are still being tallied, so those who thought they won their race last week are now realizing that that is not the case!
ReplyDeletePaula, I feel your pain. This was voter suppression in its boldest style. Hope your local races work out all right. Amy
DeleteAm living here Roger, but still a Dutch citizen. Yet, I followed the elections since the results effect me just as much as an American! That comment from Paula Scott and someone from Facebook were in a similar slant, which gives me a flicker of hope.
ReplyDeleteI'm traveling...ugh..but looking forward to linking up with all of you! A new meaning to home away from home!
ReplyDeleteI voted and have since I was 18...but this year I was very dissapointed with the campaigns and the results of the election. I love this Country and will support and pray for the Pres. even though I don't agree with his policies.
ReplyDeleteWe are on the same page Ms. Wanda.
DeleteWanda, I voted for the president, but I prayed for George W. Bush and always pray for all world leaders. It's nice to hear this type of mature opinion. We all need to get active now, rallying for our causes. I even included a link for getting phone numbers and addresses of all national elected officials in the process notes of my poem! Thanks, Amy

My candidate won and I'm relieved. But something has to be done about the voting mechanics we've seen in the last few elections. Waiting in line to vote for 2, 4, 6 hours is insupportable.
ReplyDeleteSee my comment to Paula. It's voter suppression... and in Oakland, I'm not surprised. Amy
DeleteI have exercised my right to vote and rightfully so and am relieved that it is over. Now our country can recover.
ReplyDeleteMine is call REJOICE! but I think it more rightly should be called RELIEVED. I'm sick of the whole process. The electoral college, the hype of expensive conventions... we could have put all that money toward covering children's health care this year. Amy
ReplyDeletehttp://sharplittlepencil.com/2012/11/13/rejoice/
I totally agree with you Amy. Those millions of dollars spent during the campaign and election process is ridiculous!
DeleteI enjoy this site very much and I am sorry that you chose to make a political statement on what is normally a fun and artistic place. I have noticed that people are only upset with the electoral college when their candidate loses. The President won both the popular vote and the electoral vote for the second time.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that you feel that way, I do believe that it is just a timely topic for the letter this week.
DeleteI also think that this is not the place for political debates. Statistic wise 90 % of the whole world is happy that Obama won. And all Europeans countries too, I agree with Reader Wil, in Belgium we love Obama too I followed the News in Italy and Germany !
ReplyDeleteGlad the Republicans failed and Really hoping Obama will be Radical this time around!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteFor a minute, with all the politics, I thought I was on my Facebook account! The USA is so dichotomized as a nation, we are no longer able to have political dialog. R is for a request to be Reasonable and Responsible.
'like'!
DeleteOf course, I voted! As I've told my kids, if you don't vote you forfeit the right to complain if the result is not what you wanted. Personally, I was happy with the result. If we could change something about the process, I'd get rid of the Citizens United decision. The founding fathers are probably rolling over in their graves.
ReplyDeleteAmerica had had an election?
ReplyDeletelol!
Great introduction to R! Very lively comments - don't you just love ABC Wednesday!
Thanks so much
Denise ABC Team
Hahaha, I know that's why I chose to post something about politics because I know this would get a lot of reactions.
DeleteYep ~ voted ~ thanks hosting this site ~ it is wonderful! (A Creative Harbor) ^_^
ReplyDeleteI am so happy the elections are over as well. It's tiring to listen to all the negativity throughout the process. This year was especially bad with smear tactics. I make it a point to vote because of the many women before me who fought long and hard to give me that right. The states are so divided right now; I really hope some "purpling" will happen soon.
ReplyDeleteYou got that right LIsa.
DeleteI strongly believe that everyone should vote, it is often those that don't who complain!
ReplyDeleteyep glad it is over too! Voting is very important in our family and am glad that my children also feel it is their duty as well as their right.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
I am so relieved it is over. I was so tired seeing political campaigns and other stuff, it's sickening to watch it over and over again.
DeleteI did vote! I'm praying that in spite of the election results that we will go forward as a country having freedom of religion once again.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that Norma!
DeleteYour point is well taken! As a Canadian, I didn't get to vote this time, but it is Really high on my list of priorities whenever new government officials are elected here.
ReplyDeleteVoting is our fundamental right and duty. I never miss voting in my country.
ReplyDeleteVery best of luck for your President and your country! Hats off to all sorts of good views about voting here!
ReplyDeleteAll the best. xx
Everyone in India rooted for Obama and whoohoo He won!
ReplyDeleteNow only if someone will care to explain an politically ignorant me why it was important for him to get elected.
We have elections next year and I will vote for sure.
wow, better late than never? guess I fell out there, for a bit, but I'm back for today at least! looking forward to seeing what you all have been up to!
ReplyDeleteBeing from WV, I was totally surprised to see they carried Romney/Ryan, too. I guess they are still sore thinking about the Dems threats of taking away their gun rights. A major no-no! Of course, being conservative I totally get the value of our second amendment and definitely don't want Big Government stepping on my toes. It would be so awesome to see our country leaned toward a unified conservative movement of getting this nation back on track, but I think the selfishness of many are keeping this from happening. Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteWOW,I'm REALLY late this week but I still wanted to join in. We were desperatley disappointed by the election!!!I'm afraid that the debates have just begun over all the changes that are due to start in the near future.
ReplyDeleteYES WE VOTED>
