The Election is over in the United States and we aRe moRe than Ready to move foRwaRd? Even though Republican Running mates Romney and Ryan did not win the Race, I am hopeful that our countRy will eventually find its way to a conseRvative RecoveRy. I was pleasantly suRpRised that the State of West Virginia went Red this time. I am veRy pRoud that our state is not divided like some states. I just wish that we could lose the electoRal college and come up with a betteR pRocess.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely I voted. I think we are living in troubled times and need every available avenue to make our voices heard. We need shorter campaigns with less money thrown around!

DeleteI agree, Kate. We also need many more debates. Also, I didn't even KNOW there was a Green Party candidate, Jill Stein, on the presidential line until I saw the ballot.

ReplyDeleteHi Roger, based from what my other half told me (I am not into politics), WV has always been a blue state but then again, he was away for twenty years of serving in the Navy so you are probably right.
DeleteMust point out, pundits say Wisconsin was "red" last time and is now "blue," but no state is either one or the other. Every state is and must be considered its own hue of purple. In fact, on election night, hangin' with the lefties downtown, I wore a purple shirt to symbolize that.
DeleteI think it is good that we are all able to exercise the right to vote. I was thrilled with the outcome of the presidential election, although I was disappointed that NC went red this time. I was so happy in Pres. Obama's first race when my state of NC went blue. I think being able to disagree respectfully is important so I'm happy you were happy about WV and how they voted even though I'm very relived and very, very happy that Pres. DeleteYes, I did indeed exercise my right to vote! However, many here in Rio Rancho were not able to-the county totally blew it on not having enough polling places and enough voting booths-lines were miles long and the wait for many was over 4 hours. Many gave up and did not vote as a result. Our local results are still being tallied, so those who thought they won their race last week are now realizing that that is not the case!

DeleteAm living here Roger, but still a Dutch citizen. Yet, I followed the elections since the results effect me just as much as an American! That comment from Paula Scott and someone from Facebook were in a similar slant, which gives me a flicker of hope.

ReplyDeleteI voted and have since I was 18...but this year I was very dissapointed with the campaigns and the results of the election. I love this Country and will support and pray for the Pres. even though I don't agree with his policies.

My candidate won and I'm relieved. But something has to be done about the voting mechanics we've seen in the last few elections. Waiting in line to vote for 2, 4, 6 hours is insupportable.

DeleteI enjoy this site very much and I am sorry that you chose to make a political statement on what is normally a fun and artistic place. I have noticed that people are only upset with the electoral college when their candidate loses. The President won both the popular vote and the electoral vote for the second time.

DeleteI also think that this is not the place for political debates. Statistic wise 90 % of the whole world is happy that Obama won. And all Europeans countries too, I agree with Reader Wil, in Belgium we love Obama too I followed the News in Italy and Germany !

DeleteOf course, I voted! As I've told my kids, if you don't vote you forfeit the right to complain if the result is not what you wanted. Personally, I was happy with the result. If we could change something about the process, I'd get rid of the Citizens United decision. The founding fathers are probably rolling over in their graves.

ReplyDeleteI am so happy the elections are over as well. It's tiring to listen to all the negativity throughout the process. This year was especially bad with smear tactics. I make it a point to vote because of the many women before me who fought long and hard to give me that right. The states are so divided right now; I really hope some "purpling" will happen soon.

ReplyDeleteBeing from WV, I was totally surprised to see they carried Romney/Ryan, too. I guess they are still sore thinking about the Dems threats of taking away their gun rights. A major no-no! Of course, being conservative I totally get the value of our second amendment and definitely don't want Big Government stepping on my toes. It would be so awesome to see our country leaned toward a unified conservative movement of getting this nation back on track, but I think the selfishness of many are keeping this from happening.
