I feel like being silly so here's some silly prose
and I hope it makes you smile.
Limerick by Edward Lear.
There was an old lady of France
who taught little ducklings to dance
When she said, "Tick a Tack"!
They only said "Quack"!
which grieved that old lady of France
Silly Poem by Spike Milligan.
Said Hamlet to Ophelia
I'll draw a sketch of thee
What kind of pencil shall I use
2B or not 2B?
SKATEBOARD..... (anon).
I tried to ride a Skateboard,
I fell and scraped my knee,
I tried to ride a bicycle
I crashed into a tree.
I tried to ride a scooter
I landed on my chin,
I tried to ride a unicycle;
lost a bit of skin.
I even tried a tricycle
but ran into a wall,
I'm happy in this wheelchair now
I never fall at all.
My thanks to the sensational Denise for devising ABCW and also to the sagely Roger our admin man! Not forgetting the team of saintly admin helpers too!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Di - silly is particularly necessary these days.
ReplyDeleteHi Roger,
DeleteHow right you are, we have to keep on and smile when
we can!
Still not forgetting all those involved in the atrocities in Paris.

Hello Melody,
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure to make you smile, particularly in the light of the dreadful events that have taken place in France,
My heart goes out to all the victims, their families, their friends, neighbours and work colleagues.
May God bless them and watch over them and the French Nation as a whole.
Best wishes,
Di,

SO much fun Di...I love a lot of silliness - it takes away the sorrows when the days are dark and rainy like today.

Hi Leslie,
DeleteWe all like a bit of fun and silliness, and you're right it banishes the blues
on a grey miserable day, as it is here today.
Love Di xx
ABCW team.
A great start to my day. Thanks Di xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi there Denise,
DeleteNothing better than starting the day with a chuckle,

I'm not sure that "silly" is an emotion many of us can feel at the moment? I'm sad, stunned, shocked, scared...
ReplyDeleteChrissy,
DeleteI'm sorry if this offends you but I wrote it and posted before the dreadful events in Paris occurred.
I too am absolutely shattered , and frightened of what may happen any time now.
I love Paris and was blessed to have a Parisian tutor when I studied the language and political-eco
situation in the city,
Best wishes,
Di.

I think the world is always a bit scary - bombing in Beirut, war in parts of the world that don't even get reported. SILLY, I contend, is a way to SURVIVE the madness.
DeleteThank you Roger, We had to live through all the bomb scares and IRA activities whilst our darling three
Deletedaughters were down in London at University.. then the terrorists in London not to long ago when our
eldest girl was working in the city.. However we are still standing..... four lovely grandchildren later..
Vivre le France !
Di xx

If you can smile when all around the world fanatic terrorists are
murdering innocent people in the name of a religion that many of
them don't practice, then I say keep on smiling!

Di,

I ride a bike to school,
ReplyDeleteMy knees and elbows still bear testimony.
You won't believe it,
It's been 45 years,
the scars are still there
Oh dear ! I still have a scar on my knee from jumping down a steep
Deletebank and landing on some builders rubble!

ReplyDeleteBeatAboutThe Book
Hi Tulika,
DeleteGlad you liked my silly prose,
The Hamlet one is definitely my favourite too. Spike Milligan was a very
clever man, he wrote lots of silly limerick and book, he was also part of a
comedy group called The Goons and they were incredibly silly.
Spike had engraved on his grave stone. 'I told you I was ill'.
Best wishes,
Di.
ABCW team.

ReplyDeleteHello Carin,

I hope you and your family are bearing up and I hope you will

solace in each other's company..
. (For those of you who don't know, Carin has just lost her dear Dad).
And has written so eloquently about her grief on her blog..
Take care and god bless.
