C is for CATS !

For those who don't know my username "Gattina" means "Kitten" in Italian. It also means "Chat" in French. In Art school they called me Madame Chat, which means Mrs. Cat, but it can be quite confusing, as English speaking people think that I am a chatter box. Bad tongues pretend that they are right. So as I am a cat fan I just wanted to explain who don't know what living with a cat means :

There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast. (even at 4 am)
Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods.
Cats have never forgotten this.
Cats are smarter than dogs. You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through snow.
In a cat's eye, all things belong to cats.
As every cat owner knows, nobody owns a cat.

B is for Butanding

Last time, I  gave you a brief introduction of  the state of West Virginia..  This time, I'll  bring you  to the place where I was born in the Philippines, the Bicol Region.  It is located in the southernmost tip of Luzon Island.   The region is bounded by Lamon Bay to the north, Pacific Ocean to the east, and Sibuyan Sea and Ragay Gulf to the west. The northernmost province, Camarines Norte, is bordered to the north by the province of Quezon, thereby connecting the region to the rest of Luzon.

Bicol Region is volcanic in origin and part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Known as the Bicol Volcanic Arc or Chain, the volcanoes are the results of the Philippine Sea Plate sub-ducting under the Philippine Mobile Belt, along the Philippine Trench.  In the small town of Donsol is where I came from, the place where you can find  a bunch of whale shark or locally known as  Butanding. According to my source, Butanding is the biggest fish in the world. In 2004, Time magazine has ranked interacting with those gentle giants as "The Best Animal Encounter in Asia".  So if you are going to  the Philippines for a vacation, try to  swim with the Butanding, it's fun and one of a kind experience that you could have.
Alrighty, before you get bored, buckle up and get ready with the bumpy but exciting  ride we are about to take and see from the different  letter B contribution  of the ABC participants around the  world.  (source of info and photo: wikepedia and dsc.discovery.com)

Stop by at my blog when you get a chance.

A is for APPRECIATION

Hi, I'm Roger. I've been APPEARING on ABC Wednesday for five AND a half rounds now. I am AMAZED to become the current ARBITER of what goes on at this ARRANGEMENT.

But I am not the ALPHA of this AGGREGATION. That would be the ADMIRABLE, APPEALING and, AUDACIOUSLY AWESOME Denise Nesbitt; that's her with her hubby Jon. She had this ABSURD idea that people would ARRIVE at this web ADDRESS each week and share their ARRAY of words and pictures. And they have; what an ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Since there are ALWAYS ABCW newbies at the ASCENT of the round, let's quickly ADDRESS what we (ABCW and you) are AGREEING to. You can see the full ARTICLE here.

ABCW agrees to host the site, with the Linky feature. We agree to have at least one member of our AUDACIOUS team visit you if you put a link in that Linky thingamabob, and try to ASSIST you if you are having difficulty.

You agree to put your link, optimally the specific one for the APPLICABLE post, in the Linky thing. Your post should be APPROPRIATE for most people. You will AIM to visit at least a handful of your fellow ABCW bloggers each week that you post here. You ACCEDE to follow the theme - this week something starting with the letter A; next week, something starting with the letter B. (We can be pretty AMIABLE about this; for eXample, the letter X, so just give it a try.) AND you should ACKNOWLEDGE somewhere in the post, by use of logo and/or link, that you ARE participating in ABC Wednesday. ASSESSING others' ARTICLES will AID you.

That, in a nutshell, is the AGREEMENT.

So go forth and have an AFFABLE time.

Round 11 is coming!

It's time to for you to get your new badge for the next round of ABC Wednesday. Check our badges page if you want one a a bit smaller or larger than the one below.

PLEASE tell others about ABC Wednesdays. Arthur@AmeriNZ plugged us in his recent podcast (starting about 17:08, for 4 minutes) AND in his blog.

Would you like to become part of the ABCW team? This involves visiting 10 people per week while leaving comments; letting me know if the links to the posts don't work or if someone has posted something not in keeping with the ABC Wednesday meme; and writing one or two intros over the 26-week period. Please e-mail me at rogerogreen(at)gmail(dot)com, if you are interested.

Also, someone asked: "I gather the posting time will be the same?" Yes, 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nesbitt time, which I guess they use elsewhere in England as well. See what time it is where you are. It'll be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the eastern part of the US, where I am, most weeks, but it gets an hour off when the US goes to Daylight Saving Time before the UK goes to British Summer Time, et al.

Y ask Y?.... Y Not ask Y Not?

First of all, let me apologize to anyone who reads this blog in a language other than English.  My attempts at clever puns will undoubtable fall flat upon translation.

Because the organization I was in as a young man was identified with a Y, whenever I see the letter Y, I think of my YOUTH.

I have a YEARNING to be YOUNG again.

And speaking of young, anyone who has ever had a YOUNG child knows that "Y", or more accurately, "WHY", is their favorite word.

So, as I think of my YOUTH, I can't help but ask "Y ?"

Y did I do what I did?

Y didn't I do what I didn't do?

And of course, who can think of their YOUTH without seeing Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinnie, speaking about the "Two Utes"

Speaking of Utes, reminds me of Utah, where I spent my YOUTH.

What YUMMY, or YUCKY parts of YOUR YOUTH do YOU YEARN for?

And what does Y make you think about?
