K is for Kilometers and Keith!

It is a fact that 1 kilometre = 0.621371192 miles so 5km = 3mi 188.07yd. On Saturday 15th June I will be part of a team running this distance to raise funds for Cancer Research.

I have encouragement and help from my own 20 week old puppy Bing who ensures I wear the correct footwear.......

Who walks with me......notice the word "walk" rather than "run". I have been known to break into a jog on occasions!

I am proud to be team leader......my badge arrived last week. A venture like this is best tackled as part of a team...my team is Loftus Slimming World...my pals from the slimming group we attend each week.

K is also for Keith

 

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago in hospital where Keith started his first chemotherapy treatment for the cancer which has come back. Keith is a very dear, lovely man who we have known for many years. He recovered from Cancer of the Bowel a few years ago and we believe he will do it again. The agony of me running 5km will be over in a couple of hours, but the side affects of the drugs which Keith has to take last for days....I can not complain but I do so want to make a contribution to this research. One day the small efforts by people like us will pay off and the research we fund will be the hope of tomorrow.

J is for Jonquil

J is for joyful, jazzy, jumping, jonquils.

Jonquil is a color as well as a flower. The name for the color came from the flower name: Narcissus jonquilla. The flowers above are the color jonquil but they are another variety. However, jonquil has also become a common name which could refer to the flowers above. Jump right in and join us for the letter J.

I is for the I CAN'T songs

I decided, in honor of the letter I, and my recent birthday, that I would pick some songs for this INSTALLMENT. They may not be my favorite tunes, but they do have three things in common:

1) They all start with the word I; not just the letter I, but the standalone pronoun. No 'I'm' or 'I've'.
2) They all made it onto the Billboard singles charts. In fact, they were all in the Top 10, because the list would otherwise be way too long.
3) I own all of them, on vinyl, or CD or download. Oh, who am I kidding? They are ALL vinyl or CD; what I have downloaded onto "the cloud" I can scarcely remember, but what I possess that I have held in my hand is a whole 'nother thing.

OK, four things:
4) Since that list is STILL way too long, I've further narrowed the list to songs starting with "I Can't", just because I can.

H is How I say Hello

Hello, Friends - Today's letter is H. From the Formal "How do You Do?" to the informal "Howdy," the casual "Hello" to the even more casual "Hi," we greet people with H on a regular basis in English. But it isn't just English. Many languages greet people with an H. So, whether you say Hello or Hola, Hallo or Hei, Halla, Halo, Hej, Hujambo, or just plain Howdy, it's good to see you here today. Good to have a chance to say Hi. How do you say Hello?
