J is for Jonquil

J is for joyful, jazzy, jumping, jonquils.

Jonquil is a color as well as a flower. The name for the color came from the flower name: Narcissus jonquilla. The flowers above are the color jonquil but they are another variety. However, jonquil has also become a common name which could refer to the flowers above. Jump right in and join us for the letter J.

  8. In Holland where I'm originally from, we call this flower Narcissus. Indeed, a joyful color in the usual gray days there:)

  10. Oh they look so pretty. I have bunches and bunches of them on my kitchen table...it's still too cold for them to be blooming outdoors...next month.

  21. I love jonquilles. They are so welcome after the long gray winter we had. As a kid, I used to spend hours in the woods picking "jonquilles" and "primevères" for my mother.
