shades of green. All of them! (OK, MOST of them.)
I like that being GREEN means being environmentally aware. I'm forever finding bottles to recycle, if not return. There is even a GREEN Party in New York State, and other parts of the world.
GREEN means GO, a great affirmation.
Of course, GREEN has some negative connotations as well.
It conveys the idea of something, or someone, not mature, deficient in training or sophistication or experience.
Worse, it suggests one of the seven deadly sins, as in green with envy, the green-eyed monster.
Still, lots of great songs that start with GREEN (all linked; chart numbers from Billboard (US) Top 100).
Green, Green - New Christy Minstrels (#14 in 1963)
Green, Green Grass of Home - Tom Jones (#11 in 1967)
Green Onions - Booker T and the MGs (#3 in 1962)
Green River - Creedence Clearwater Revival (#2 in 1969)
Green Tambourine - the Lemon Pipers (#1 in 1968)
Green face emoticons means sick. But I like that green is for prosperity. Thanks for hosting and sharing you fav color Roger :)ReplyDelete
Why, you're talking about Teal Green, of course!ReplyDelete
It's not easy being green.Delete
Got that right, Martha.Delete
Green is my favorite color, especially sea green or celery or sage. I'm not very fond of Kelly Green or Apple green. I love your box of green colors. I also like the new Christy Minstrels' 'Green, green...' I'm already with my blog for ABC for once, but since I'm in Hawaii I won't be posting too early!ReplyDelete
"G" is for the great Roger Green whose breadth of genius is a gift to us all!!!ReplyDelete
Thanks to Roger, Denise and the entire ABCWednesday team.
Beautiful to see all those shades of green. I love that folksong about Greensleeves! BTW in the Netherlands we also have a Green Party. I often vote "green" if I like their program. You know our polling system is different from yours. We have proportional representation,so every vote counts.ReplyDelete
I loved this post. More meanings / connotations to green than other colours I think. My G is ready and waiting.ReplyDelete
Great Green post, will be back tomorrow to post mine. :)ReplyDelete
It always makes me smile when I overlook the obvious with our alphabet challenge. A very good intro to the letter G, Roger! I do enjoy the color green! The grass, leaves, the green lime in my G & T. oops...I digress.ReplyDelete
Gorgeous greens always attracts me :)ReplyDelete
We also have a GREEN party here and they finally won a seat in the last election. I'm forever recycling things and GRUMBLING all the while. Wow! haven't listened to Tom J's GREEN GREEN GRASS of HOME for ages!ReplyDelete
Always love the good greens & not the negative versions, Roger :)ReplyDelete
Green-leafy veggies are great for our body & a green Earth is much needed :)

Green was my father's favorite color. I still wonder why....ReplyDelete
Green is a soothing color for me. I always like your introductions to the week's letter and I appreciate what you do to keep this meme going.ReplyDelete
GREEN IS MY FAVORITE COLOR. IT IS THE COLOR OF NATURE TOO, WHICH IS MY PRECIOUS FRIEND.ReplyDelete
Greetings! (or maybe Greenings?). "G" stands for GERMANY in my blog today.ReplyDelete

Thanks for hosting!
I enjoyed listening to your choices, which are songs my youth. Ha! cracks me every time I say something like that. In all these years, I didn't know that "Green Tambourine" was the name of that song. LOLReplyDelete
Take 25 to Hollister
Green is indeed a lovely colour, it soothes the eyes.ReplyDelete
Wow, all those meanings for Green! Who knew! When it comes to the English language, I'm still Green.ReplyDelete
How about brown-green which is close to olive green, or blue green (close to teal) ....:):) my favorite I green to paint with is sap green (the green of a young leaf)ReplyDelete
This is perhaps a strange comment that you may find interesting. My mother was wearing a green dress the day my father died. Forever after, she hated the colour green. She didn't like us to wear green and she certainly wouldn't wear it herself. i tried to point out the beauty of greens in nature, but to the day she died, my sister and I felt Guilty for loving Greens of any kind. Thanks so much for your work to keep this fine meme Going so successfully!ReplyDelete
Linking my first post for ABC Wednesday.ReplyDelete
Fascinating there are so many shades of green - each one with it's own personality.ReplyDelete
Green is the most natural colour - hence it is all around is in some many ways.
And of course we have to eat our greens every day.
Green is a good colour and Green Green Grass of Home is a good song.ReplyDelete
