D for Doubt.

Doubting Thomas was the apostle who refused to believe the resurrected Jesus had appeared to the ten other Apostles until he could see and feel the wounds Jesus suffered from being on the cross.

Caravaggio's painting of Thomas checking Jesus's wounds.

It is written that we all have a little bit of Thomas in us.

Sometimes we become like Thomas when we go through hard times, others after taking a class that challenges us to think more deeply about God.

Do you require any more proof
of Our Lord's Resurrection?  DOUBTING THOMAS ?

Some images of my favourite four legged friends, the humble.....

DONKEY.

(from the Movie called Shrek)

Muffin.
Muffin the Mule: who really is a DONKEY puppet, he used to DANCE and sing on the top of Annette Mills piano whilst she played  and sang.....

Annette and Muffin.

Good old Muffin the Mule.

'
Here comes Muffin the Mule, Dear old Muffin, playing the fool'.....etc.
A great favourite in the 50's on childrens' TV.

.Annette Mills was the sister of the famous actor Sir John Mills who starred in many films, including the lead role of 'Pip' in the film of DICKEN'S   'Great Expectations'. He also starred in Ryans Daughter, Goodbye Mr Chips and so many more.

Sincere thanks to all the team of ABCW for doing what they do each week to keepus up and running, including Denise who DEVELOPED ABCW and Roger and Leslie in admin also the team of assistants, who help with the visits,
best wishes to all, Di .xx

  1. No DOUBT about it: Thomas got a bad rap. The others SAW Jesus; would they have believed if they had not?

    1. He did indeed Ann. I can be a bit of a sceptic sometimes
and have to accept things as they are and not dig in too deeply
when the facts stare one in the face!

  4. Indeed, at some point we all are 'Thomas' in more or less way... and I think that is a good thing because it makes us think about things that are happening ... Thomas, in my mind at least, had a very important positiion and task... he stimulates people to think and make up their own mind, with anything they see acceptable as 'proove'..

a very good choice for D if I may say so... stimulates thinking ;-)

    1. I totally agree with you Melody. Sometimes when a truth is
staring you in the face you can't quite believe it.
The stimulation of though is good for the soul (In my humble opinion).

  5. Oh yes, sometimes I can be the most stubborn doubting Thomas. Not anything I am proud of and one of my worst traits. Thanks for hosting and I will be back to link up later today!

    1. Hi Terri,
I admire you for your honesty, but i'm sure everyone, must at some time in their life,
doubt a fact that could be true, but then, there are so many devious and untruthful
people on this planet, that it may not be a bad thing to doubt!
Good to hear from you again,
      Best wishes,

  6. I agree with those bloggers who say that we need Thomas, because he was the one who really wanted to believe and who wanted see it proved, something we all want. There are too many people in any religion on earth who take everything written in our holy books for granted. I believe that it is very important to pray for a stronger faith. Everything we need and should do is said in the "Lord's Prayer". May we all be blessed by that powerful prayer!

    1. Hello Wil,
So good to hear from you again and thank you for your wise words, I really respect
your opinions, which I never doubt.
I loathe the way, via varying religious creeds, that evil doers distort the truth to suit their
      own ends.

    1. Hello again Roger,
Just read through 'How To Wreck Your Faith'.......'Outlaw Christianity' etc etc..
I liked the Mother's retorts 'You shouldn't ask questions'.... 'You'll shipwreck
your faith'....'Questions are the devil's playground'..

But, you can go around in ever decreasing circles and still not reach an answer.

In my simple mind I try to abide by The Ten Commandments, a simple theory in the Christian
doctrine.... but then I don't quite go with...'coveting his neighbours Wife, Ox or his Ass..and so on!
      Just a thought !
