E if for EXIT and ENTRANCE

You probably hadn't heard about this, but in the United States, one President (44) EXITED the White House after eight years, while another (45) ENTERED in January 2017.

In 2016, in the United Kingdom, which agreed to EXIT (or Brexit, if you will) the European Union, one Prime Minister EXITED #10 Downing Street after a little more than six years, while another, UK's second woman PM, ENTERED it.

In fact, if you look at this April 2016 picture of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, US President Barack Obama, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and British Prime Minister David Cameron, taken at the G20 summit, you'll note that only one of them, Merkel, is still in power.

And so it goes in our personal lives, with people ENTERING and EXITING. I've noticed, though, that social media, has allowed me to stay in touch with some people who have moved away with whom I might otherwise have lost touch. AND I have "met" people online that I've never seen in person at all, including on this blog.

I had written last year of ABC Wednesday EXITING the scene. But then Melody ENTERED the picture and decided to sustain it. So as we have ENTERED the 20th round, know that discussions of our EXIT are apparently premature.

E is for Entrepreneur

The New York Small Business Development Center helps businesses at all phases of their operation. There are SBDC programs in every state in the US and the District of Columbia, plus Puerto Rico, Guam, and other outlining areas. It is funded as partnership between the US Small Business Administration and the host institution, usually a college or university.

I have been a business librarian for nearly 24 years. I'm one of four professionals who help our New York SBDC business advisers assist the clients who come in to receive professional, free, and confidential advisement.

While the businesses can be at any stage, from expansion to retirement, probably a majority of SBDC clients are entrepreneurs. The Wikipedia defines entrepreneurship as "the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which typically begins as a small business, such as a startup company, offering a product, process or service for sale or hire."

I've only recently learned that the SBDC out of the University of Texas in San Antonio has been involved in helping other countries to ascertain whether to use the model the SBDC program in their lands.

There is a magazine called Entrepreneur, which may be useful for someone starting or expanding an enterprise.

18-E

abc18melody ABC-Wednesday by Mrs. Nesbitt Round 18 E
Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photomeme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!
The challenging letter of this week is the E and I've chosen the word: Emerge
Every week many people participate in this, and others I expect, meme with totally different topics. Whatever emerges to ones mind comes across for all of us to see, to like or dislike...all is possible. That is one of the things wich makes participating in a meme so much fun, isn't it?
I do have a mind which can think and act very quickly, i very rarely have to sit and think long and hard about what i will enter for participation but visiting every participant i also see people struggle sometimes with what to use for an entry.
 emerge
I love the fact that so many people participate every week and going back in the ABC history one can see many, many, many entries, week after week after week. I think is extraordinary for a meme to be so succesfull and have so many loyal participants who will return (almost) every week.

So... from a fairly new member of this meme... in my heart emerges a feeling of gratitude and respect to all of you and of course the wish that for long time to come, i will be able to may greet you every week again!
Lets keep 'emerging' things out of our imagination to keep the weekly fun in 'our' meme alive and kicking!

Have a nice abc-day/ - week

E for Expressing

Hello and good day, dear participants at ABC-Wednesday in round 17 for the letter E

Today I've chosen the word "expressing"

Each week we try to express how we feel about the letter which turn it is, and every week I am pleasantly surprised by the number of entries.

So first of all I want to thank every participant for his/her effort in searching an applicable photograph, making a blogpost and linking it here at this weekly, wonderful and challenging photomeme.

"Expressing" is what everyone of us does, 24/7 in word, behaviour and gestures. Its what defines us, its what people tells something about us and its also one of the first things which influences what people think about us which on its turn determines of one person likes another or not.

Everyone "expresses" him/her-self on his/her blog, in many different ways, one of which is our photomeme ABC-Wednesday. It always a surprise what i get to see after opening the link of a participant. Sometimes i get intriged, sometimes mystified, sometimes something else, but the surprise has never been disappointing.

I enjoy very much to 'get to know' my photomeme-loving fellow bloggers a little better, little by little. Of course, not only the person behind the blog but I love also the 'journeys' I get to undertake, all over the world, in the total comfort of my own home, sitting on my couch, here in a relatively small town, in the northern parts of The Nederlands, the 2nd province from above on the right side of the map.

I want to wish you all a very nice day with lots of love and happiness. Also, lots of fun in ABC-Wednesday in this entry and I hope, many more to come.

P.S... if above...the spelling is not entirely correct, please forgive me. The English language is not my native one.

E is for EAGLES

EAGLES are large birds of prey and although there are 60 species among them, only two are found in the United States and Canada.  In my area of Canada (west coast bordering on the Pacific Ocean and Washington State) we see bald eagles all over the place.  They aren't really bald; they just appear to be bald from a distance because of their white-feathered heads. They build their nests, called eyries or aeries, in tall trees or on high cliffs, both of which can be found locally.   You can always tell an eagle's nest because of its size as the chicks are huge!  There has even been one recorded instance of a nest that was 10 feet wide and 20 feet deep.  Because of their size and power, eagles are at the top of the food chain, feeding on fish, wild rabbits, mice, and other small forest animals.

EAGLES, the band was formed in 1971 in Los Angeles with Don Henley, Glen Frey, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner.  Who hasn't heard of them?  One of the most successful bands of all time, they've had 5 number one singles and 6 number one albums! A few of their most memorable pieces are "Desperado," "Hotel California," "One of These Nights," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Take It to the Limit."  Here's a shot of the band in the '70s.

And now you can see my little slideshow of both kinds of "Eagles" with my very own photos of the bird variety and Mr. Google's photos of the band variety.  Be sure to turn up your sound to hear a rendition of "Desperado" and ENJOY!

E is for EVANS

I have a new name!  Yes, on May 1st I became Mrs. Evans and I just thought I'd reintroduce myself.  Have you ever wondered what your name means? Well, my new surname means "son of Evan," so I had to go and check out the name Evan.  It's Welsh for John and means (1) "one who is awesome beyond contemplation, (2) so good looking that one is attractive to every female present and at least one guy present, and (3) to be incredibly smart."  I think I picked a doubly good one since husband's parents gave him the middle name of Evan.
From http://www.houseofnames.com/evans-coat-of-arms Evans was "first founded in Herefordshire from very ancient times...before the Norman Conquest and the arrival of Duke William in Hastings in 1066.
This is the Evans family crest which I like very much!
In my research about the name Evans, I found a piece about its connection to the famous King Arthur.  From the same link as above, it says that "Writers and historians have long been divided ... on the truth of Arthur, the great Welsh king of Britain.  Although many now think that there is some truth underlying the many varied accounts, the hard facts surrounding Arthur's reign are almost completely obscured in a mist of myths and legends."

So...on my mother's side, there is speculation that I may be the great granddaughter of a Scottish Lord (albeit born on the wrong side of the blanket) and could it possibly be that my new husband comes from the family of King Arthur?

You may call me Lady Evans now.  Curtsies graciously accepted.

E is for EXCELSIOR

I've been ENTERING into the ABC Wednesday ENTERPRISE for EVER so long, Round 5, letter K, to be EXACT. And I had feared that perhaps the EXERCISE had become EXHAUSTED in Round 13, with fewer ENTRIES, and it would be soon coming to an END. But, with this new round, increased EXCITEMENT and ENTHUSIASM has been ENGENDERED, with new ENTRANTS participating. This has had a great EFFECT on my EMOTIONS.

Your ELUCIDATIONS are often ENTERTAINING and EDUCATIONAL, not necessarily ELABORATE. Of course, good ETIQUETTE suggests that you are off being ENRICHED from other folks' EARNEST EFFORTS, as well.

Here's the thing, though: with an ESCALATING number of participants - an EXCELLENT thing - we need to ENGAGE more visiting EMISSARIES to ENGAGE with the ENROLLED, as you have come to EXPECT. If you would might ENJOY participating further in our ENDEAVOR with our ENERGETIC ENSEMBLE, you may E-MAIL me: rogerogreen (at) gmail.com

Oh, did you know that if you make an ERROR posting on the Linky ENGINE that you can EXCISE it, then ENTER the right one?

LISTEN TO The Pointer Sisters - I'm So Excited
I'm so excited, And I just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control, And I think I like it.

E is for Easy

Well, it's time for me, Roger, to do one of these intros. Instead of EXTRUDING an EXCESS of E words, I thought I'd take it EASY and respond to the same survey Berowne answered, which Mrs. Nesbitt, aided by yours truly, put together. Won't be as funny as Berowne's, though. I'm only a laugh riot in person...

What is your most favorite sound?

It's the sound of running water, from hanging around a babbling brook to a mighty waterfall. I'm even sated by listening to the shower in the morning. I think it may be a Pisces thing.

What is your least favorite sound?

The sound of a dentist's drill. In my mouth.

If someone were to play you in the movie of your life, which actor would that be?

Academy Award winner for his performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the 2006 film The Last King of Scotland Forest Whitaker, who has the exact same birthday as a loved one of mine.

What food would you most like to have if nutrition and calories were not an issue?

Oh, there are so many; how about one of these burgers?

What utterly impractical or useless skill do you possess that most people do not?

The ability to make the sound of a kazoo, without a kazoo.

What top 3 people (dead or alive) would you invite to dinner?

I thought about this for awhile and decided on Benjamin Franklin, Mohandas K. Gandhi and Grace Kelly. "Hey, Ben, you know that electricity you noted? They've harnessed it so that there are now moving pictures, and Grace is in some of them." Franklin would likely want to get randy, but struck by Gandhi's essence, he demurs.

What would the main course be?

Some sort of vegetarian lasagna, with eggplant and spinach.

What piece of music do you most identify with?

It would be the song you can hear HERE.

"It's not that easy being green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that"

Now I EXPECT that you will EXCITE and ENTERTAIN us all with your ESSAYS.

E is for Excellent

ABC Wednesday is an EXALTED ENTITY.

Sure, we ENJOY the ECLECTIC, EXHAUSTIVE ENTRIES EARTHWIDE. They may be ENERGETIC, EXCITING, maybe a bit EMBARRASSING. They may ENTAIL EDUCATIONAL ESSAYS that are EXPANSIVE, ENLIGHTENING, and ENTICING.

ABCW is also EASY. Some memes ENTREAT the ENTRANTS narrowly, but ABC Wednesday is ECUMENICAL, only wanting you to EXECUTE the theme, it is hoped in an ENTERTAINING way.

But on a EXTREMELY personal note, I was ENCOURAGED and ELATED by the outpouring of EMPATHY I received after my mother's unEXPECTED passing. It was an ENDURING legacy of Mrs. Nesbitt, not only to create an EXHILARATING meme, but one that EXISTS as a community with an EXPECTATION of caring. You are EXCEPTIONAL people.

I EAGERLY say, Thank you! (Hope this ESSAY is adequate for the purposes of ETIQUETTE.)

- Roger
