I love music

As usual, when I have an intro to write but don't have a topic, I go to the MUSIC. These are:

# songs that start with the word I, and not I'll or I'm, which would make the list even LONGER!
# that I know; there's a couple other titles that sounded familiar, but eh
# that went to number 1 on the US Billboard pop charts
# that came out before 1992, because my Billboard Book of Number One Hits ends there

Links to all; hope they work in your country

I Am Woman - Helen Reddy 19721209-1

I Can Help - Billy Swan 19741123-2
I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash 19721104-4

I Can't Get Next To You - the Temptations 19691018-2
(I Can't Get No) - Satisfaction - Rolling Stones 19650710-4
I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) - Daryl Hall and John Oates 19820130-1
I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) - The Four Tops 19650619-2
I Can't Stop Loving You - Ray Charles 19620602-5

I Feel Fine - the Beatles 19641226-3
I Feel the Earth Move -Carole King 19710619-5 (Two-sided hit with It's Too Late)

I Get Around - the Beach Boys 19640704-2

I Heard It Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye 19681214-7

I Honestly Love You - Olivia Newton-John 19741005-2

I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder 19841013-3
I Love A Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbit 19810228-2
I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts 19820320-7

I Shot the Sheriff - Eric Clapton 19740914-1

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2 19870808-2

I Think I Love You - Partridge Family 19701121-3
I Think We're Alone Now - Tiffany 19871107-2

I Want to Hold Your Hand - the Beatles 19640201-7 (studio versions are notoriously difficult to find in the US; this is the group on the Ed Sullivan Show)
I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner 19850202-2
I Want You Back - The Jackson Five 19700131-01
I Want You, I Need You, I Love You - Elvis Presley 19560728-1

I Will Follow Him - Little Peggy March 19630427-3
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor 19790310-3

I Wish- Stevie Wonder 19770122-1

I Write the Songs - Barry Manilow 19760117-1 (written by Bruce Johnston)

As for those numeric designations, that represents the week, in YYYYMMDD format, that the song first went to number one. The number after the hyphen indicates how many weeks it was nimber one, not necessarily consecutively.

Note that the first three I Want... songs all went to #1 the same relative week (31 Jan-2 Feb)

I is for iron

You all know that iron is a metal, number 26 on the periodic table, with the symbol Fe, from Latin: ferrum. Magnets are attracted to iron, and vice versa. Such romance.

There's a landmark building in New York City, at 175 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, called the Flat Iron Building, so named because of "its resemblance to a cast-iron clothes iron."

Ironing. Now that's a task I never really got into. I'd probably be like that scene in the TV show Frasier with Niles Crane ironing. I've never had anything catch on fire, but I've scorched a few things in my time. Thank goodness for permanent press, which really isn't "permanent" but close enough.

I discovered this list of idioms with the word iron. One is to iron out. The first meaning is the obvious literal one, but the second is "to ease a problem; to smooth out a problem."

Having too many irons in the fire means "to be doing too many things at once." That describes me this particular week.

Iron is strong, so there are a few athletic references. Pumping iron is to lift weights. An iron man is "a man who is physically very strong and can work hard for a long time," thus the Ironman Thiathlon, which consists of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, "raced in that order and without a break. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world."

And, of course, those triathletes need plenty of iron in their diets. But they needn't have a cast-iron stomach, which is, figuratively speaking, "a very strong stomach that can withstand bad food or anything nauseating."

I hope you can iron out your schedule, and have the strength and endurance, to participate in this I week for ABC Wednesday.

I = I

ABC-Wednesday by Mrs. Nesbitt - Round 18 I

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photomeme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is the I and i've chosen the word: I

This is my 4th time to post an entry for the letter I.
Not that long a member of all of you... and even shorter then that a member of the team behind ABC-Wednesday, of which I am very proud, if i may say so, "thank you" to WIL, who invited me to join the team. Let me introduce myself to you...

I am, obviously, a woman.
At this moment in time i am 53 years old and married for 32 years, since last December 9th.
Yes I married young, never regretted that. After somewhat more then a year our daughter was born in January 1985, followed by her brothers in November 1990 of which one Thank-God, survived the horrific pregnancy after loosing 3 children earlier. Having had, still do, to deal with multiple health-issues since i was 10, I've learned to cherish life every waking second as conscious and intense as possible. Here that saddest part of my story ends.  I just mention it because its part of who i am.

For the greater part of my working-life I've worked in a bank. Before that I've worked in greenery's and restaurants. And after that, still now, i am working as a volunteer with the 'needing' people in our community and that is the most rewarding job one could ever have, so fulfilling! Also, for many years, i've worked as a volunteer for Animal-protection services.

I am the proud 'mum' of two dogs and a cat. I love to write stories, poems and other writings for blog-related memes. I am as well a hobby-photographer, love to go out to zoos and art galleries and of course, not in the latest, outdoors somewhere in nature to take lots of shots which i will cherish along side my memories of all those outings.
Although i rarely attent church these days, i am a christian and i try to live by the christian standards and do the best i can for all around me and myself.
Another important part of me is music, obviously again, I've played several instruments in several bands, I've sung for many years in a choir and solo as well and I've danced for many years too. So I absolutely love theatre-visits now i am no longer able to do each of those things anymore.

Long story short...
I love ABC- Wednesday and i truly hope that you enjoy it as much as I do every week. To welcome visitors from all over the world, to read that they want to tell 'me' in their own entries as well in their comments, i am always looking forward to each and everyone of you, on the ABC-Wednesday-blog as well as on mine.

So...welcome ..and feel free to say what you want to tell me...
or ask the questions you might have.

Have a nice ABC-day / - week ~ ♫ M e l o d y ♫ (ABC-W-team)

Introduction of "I "

If...

Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936).

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

With thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC.Don't forget to mention Mrs. Nesbitt IF you want to join us with another I-word.

INTRODUCTION

Without any doubt the word "introduction" starts with an "I" so why don't take the opportunity to explain to you what an introduction is !

Google and you get the answer !

Begin with an attention grabber. The attention grabber you use is up to you, but here are some ideas: ... If the attention grabber was only a sentence or two, add one or two more sentences that will lead the reader from your opening to your thesis statement. Finish the paragraph with your thesis statement

which is  : Brevity is the soul of wit

Truly yours,
The attention grabber Gattina

I is for Intriguing

Another INTRO:

I find IT all quite INTERESTING. IT IS ILLOGICAL not to IMBED your IMAGINATIVE "I" INKLINGS INTO this ICONIC game. I am so IMPELLED. IT would be INCOMPLETE without your INTERPRETATIONS. The IDEAS can be IMPISH or INDULGENT, IMAGINATIVE or an ITSY-bit INSANE, even for the INTROVERT.

INDEED, INCLUSION
will IMPROVE your INTELLECT, INFLUENCE your IMAGINATION. IT won't INCREASE your INCOME, or INCITE your IMMORTALITY; well, maybe an IOTA.

IDEALLY
- an IMPLICIT contract - you IMPART your INPUT at their INSPIRATIONS, and they INVARIABLY INVOKE likewise.

I INQUIRE
: are you INSPIRED? I'M ITCHING to get started. IGNITION...

I is for the I CAN'T songs

I decided, in honor of the letter I, and my recent birthday, that I would pick some songs for this INSTALLMENT. They may not be my favorite tunes, but they do have three things in common:

1) They all start with the word I; not just the letter I, but the standalone pronoun. No 'I'm' or 'I've'.
2) They all made it onto the Billboard singles charts. In fact, they were all in the Top 10, because the list would otherwise be way too long.
3) I own all of them, on vinyl, or CD or download. Oh, who am I kidding? They are ALL vinyl or CD; what I have downloaded onto "the cloud" I can scarcely remember, but what I possess that I have held in my hand is a whole 'nother thing.

OK, four things:
4) Since that list is STILL way too long, I've further narrowed the list to songs starting with "I Can't", just because I can.

I Can't Dance - Genesis (#7 in 1992)

I Can't Get Next To You - the Temptations (#1 in 1969)

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - the Rolling Stones (#1 in 1965)

I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) - Hall & Oates (#1 in 1982)

I Can't Help Myself - the Four Tops (#1 in 1965)

I Can't Tell You Why - the Eagles (#8 in 1980)

I CAN'T wait to see what you all have written this week!

I is for Irreverent

I IDEALIZE the I post, because IT IMPLIES an INFINITE array of IMPECCABLE IMAGES, INTELLIGENT and INSPIRATIONAL IDEAS of INCREDIBLE INTEREST and INFORMATION.

isosceles triangle

IT would be ILLOGICAL AND INCONCEIVABLE, even INANE, to INSIST on INFLICTING an IDENTICAL ITINERARY.

Iroquois longhouse

IT IS INFINITELY more IRRESISTIBLE to INSPECT whatever IDIOSYNCRATIC IMAGINATION IS ILLUMINATED.

invisible
INVARIABLY, one could INFUSE with IRRATIONAL IRE, but that would be INSTANTLY INCONCEIVABLE.

(INSPIRED under the INFLUENCE of INSOMNIA.)

I is for..........Inlinkz

Each week we follow fellow ABC Bloggers, thanks to a nifty piece of software called the link tool, or to be more precise Inlinkz. This is down to the ingenious, intelligent, Aris Korbetus, the name behind INLINKZ.....this week fellow bloggers not only is he writing a piece for our INTRODUCTION - he is also donating a Giveaway Amazon Voucer! Wow! How is that? Just leave a comment and one lucky random person will win this generous award...how do you ask? All down to the ingenious INLINKZ!!!!

InLinkz is made for sharing. In each InLinkz link, there lies behind it, a blogger, with a whole new and exciting story to share with all of us. Some stories are sad, most are happy and creative. And all stories are unique. As unique as the personalities of those who worked for them. It is like a TV, where each channel leads to a connected soul. It might be hundreds or thousands of miles away but the story is there! Looking us in the I , waiting to be read. And usually, in an InLinkz, the stories are somewhat alike, based on some rules, yet so different!
And when I follow the link, I meet a new person and a whole new world behind it! I discover more. I want to get in touch with the person behind the link. I feel small, yet great. Far away but not disconnected. And when I go back to the InLinkz, there are lots of other links to follow and people to meet! There are all opportunities to connect and share! And as human beings, we do love to connect and share, no matter how far we are from each other!

I is for Insightful

I'VE been ITCHING to INITIATE the INTRODUCTION of this INTRIGUING INTERACTION, ABC Wednesday, which was INITIATED by the INDEFATIGABLE and INTOXICATING DenIse NesbItt.

IF you are of an INDISPUTABLE age and IDENTITY, you may remember this INDIVIDUAL from the "IDIOT box". His IDIOMATIC phrase: "Verrry INTERESTING!"

And INDUBITABLY, the contributions of this INDEPENDENT and INDESCRIBABLE lot will be INTELLIGENT, INCREDIBLE, and IMPORTANT, perhaps IRONIC, with maybe an IOTA of INSANITY, but INEVITABLY with INTEGRITY.

I Wish - Stevie Wonder

So I INSIST that you join this IMPRESSIVE and IRRESTIBLE band with your own INSPIRATION. Did I INDOCTRINATE you yet?

I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash

I: Introducing Troy!

One of our very talented wordsmiths is introducing this week's ABC Wednesday...Troy will be along later with what will be an intriguing introduction I am sure!
***
.....

First of all, I just wanted to mention, from the entire ABC Wednesday Team, to our friends in Japan, and those among us who have friends and families there, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you and your loved ones be safe.
.....

IT was INEVITABLE that for the INTRODUCTION to "I" I would have trouble with my INTERNET EXPLORER. I tried to write this ICEBREAKER last night, but being INTERNET IMPAIRED, I was unable to do so. I thought I'd tell Denise that my IGUANA ate my INTERNET, but I IMAGINED an IMPROBABLE excuse like that would leave her INDIGNANT at my IMMATURITY.

We live in a world INUNDATED with I's. From INCREDIBLE INSTANT ICE CREAM to INCESSANTLY IRRITATING IN LAWS who INSULT our INTELLIGENCE. From INDIVIDUAL INDEPENDENCE to ILLICIT INDICTMENTS.

I wouldn't want to INFER INEPTITUDE, but the INABILITY TO IDENTIFY I's in your life would be INEXCUSABLE, unless of course, you are INFIRM.

So, let's see them. Your INGENIOUS IDEAS and INTERESTING INFORMATION.

I, and the rest of the ABC Wednesday team, are waiting IMPATIENTLY to see what you have.

--Troy
